Museum of the Agricultural Culture and Traditions of the territory of the Republic of San Marino

The House of Fabrica in Montecchio is one of the oldest patronal house of the territory of San Marino, already mentioned in the year 1770 in the Register of landed property of the Republic of San Marino. Thanks to a big restoration and repairs always preserving the ancient characteristics, this building has been given back to the community.

The farm-house has been recovered after many years of carelessness with the mutual efforts of State Secretary for Territory, the environment and Agriculture, the Castle Council of the Town and the Committee of the Territory of San Marino together with the sole aim to give back to San Marino citizens the House with the intent to employ the House as a Museum of the agricultural culture and traditions of the territory of the Republic of San Marino.

Inside you can admire the main sections of a typical farm-house. The House has faithful reconstructions of the daily life of farmers in their house: the kitchen, the bedroom, the room of the ancient loom and feminine works, the granary. Old items of the farm-house as sickles and hoes, copper pots, ancient coal flat-irons etc. And furthermore, a little balance, an ancient loom, an old cradle, cereals and so on.

The House of Fabrica preserves precious treasures concerning conditions and customs of life and work of rural population of the past. That is why it is a worthwhile cultural patrimony to preserve and convey to future generations as witness of our traditions and culture we have never to forget.

The exhibition is open all year round.
