Ancient Monastery of Santa Chiara San Marino
The area of the ex-Cloister of Santa Chiara deserves a visit. This is a large edifice built in sandstone and includes the monastery, a church and internal gardens. From the two entrances situated on Via Omerelli, it is possible visit daily the Museum of the Emigrant (from the first entrance) and the University of San Marino (from the second entrance); in fact, the monastery, after having been restructured, was used as classrooms for the University and for exhibitions and other cultural activities.
It is still possible to visit the garden where the nuns spent their idle hours. The Church dedicated to Santa Chiara, which is also connected to the convent and can be reached both from the inside and the outside by a spacious staircase, is no longer used for religious functions but for conventions and conferences.
