September at Misano
The Grand Prix of San Marino and the Riviera of Rimini is one of the historic rounds of the FIM Motorcycle World Championship. Hosted occasionally at different circuits for many years, since 2007 the race has been held permanently at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, the facility named after the Italian rider who died in 2011. The official name combines San Marino and the Riviera of Rimini to reflect the tourist geography of the event: the circuit is in Italy, but a large share of the audience chooses the Republic as a logistic base.
On track the three classes of the world championship alternate, MotoGP, Moto2 and Moto3, with the major international manufacturers. During race days the presence of teams, crews and fans creates a significant tourist movement in San Marino accommodation, where dedicated packages and transfer services towards the circuit are offered.
Misano World Circuit
The Misano World Circuit is named after Marco Simoncelli, MotoGP rider who died in 2011. The facility is in Via Daijiro Kato 10, Misano Adriatico, in the province of Rimini, about 30 km from the historic centre of San Marino via the SS72 highway and the coast.

Staying in the Republic
Many fans choose San Marino as their base for the Grand Prix weekend. The distance between the historic centre and the circuit is about half an hour by car, and the Republic offers a discounted rate of € 6.00 per night for guests of accommodation facilities. Hotels in the historic centre and in the lower Castelli open dedicated bookings for race days well in advance.
The reference airports are Federico Fellini in Rimini, a few kilometres from the circuit, and the more distant Marconi in Bologna and Raffaello Sanzio in Ancona-Falconara. The SS72 highway directly connects Rimini, the Riviera and San Marino.
Access to the circuit
Tickets for the practice and race days are sold in advance at the official ticket office of the Misano World Circuit and on the facility website, as well as through authorised ticketing channels. Packages for covered grandstand, uncovered sectors and lawn are available. Single-day tickets may be released for the smaller classes of the world championship.
