From the motorway to the Titano
The most direct itinerary is the A14 Bologna-Ancona motorway, exit Rimini Sud. From there continue on the SS72 highway Rimini-San Marino, which in about 22 km reaches the historic centre, crossing the nine Castelli of the Republic. The alternative is to take the Rimini Nord exit and follow the SP 258 Marecchiese: a more scenic route, useful for those coming from the north who wish to avoid busier areas.
Entry into Sammarinese territory does not require customs documents: the border is signposted but no controls are foreseen. By car one can drive up to the public car parks around the historic centre, which is a Limited Traffic Zone. From there visitors continue on foot, with the panoramic lifts of P9 or with the cableway from Borgo Maggiore.
Regular connections
The buses linking the Riviera and San Marino depart from Rimini railway station and from the Arco d'Augusto, with daily frequency throughout the year. In summer a stop is added at Piazza Tripoli. The main operator on the route is Bonelli Bus, based in Riccione.

Alighting at Rimini
The Republic does not have a railway station on its territory. Travellers from the north alight at Rimini and continue by bus. Those arriving from the south can stop at Cattolica, Misano or Riccione, where bus connections towards the Titano are available. Rimini station is in Piazzale Cesare Battisti 1.

From the car park to the centre
Once at the foot of Mount Titano, access to the historic centre takes three ways: on foot from car parks P1, P2 and P3 through Piazza della Libertà; with the panoramic lifts of the multi-storey P9 car park; or with the cableway from the lower station of Borgo Maggiore, which climbs 166 metres of altitude difference in a few minutes.
For orientation, the map of San Marino offers an overview of the territory and of the historic centre. In the early hours of the day it is worth aiming directly for car parks P6 or P7: shaded, close to the lifts and slower to fill during peak hours.
