§ I — The Cassa di Risparmio

An institution over a century old

The Cassa di Risparmio della Repubblica di San Marino was founded on 1 January 1882, on the experience of the Banco di Mutuo Soccorso started in 1876. From the outset the purpose of the institution has been the development of the territory through investments in education, public works and initiatives of social and cultural welfare.

In 2001 the Cassa was transformed into a joint-stock company. The shareholding is split between the Fondazione San Marino Cassa di Risparmio (51.34%), the Eccellentissima Camera della Repubblica (46.07%) and the Società Unione Mutuo Soccorso, better known as SUMS (2.59%). The headquarters is at Piazzetta del Titano 2, in the City of San Marino, telephone 0549 872366.

«In the small State of the Titano, credit was born together with the mutualist institutions. The Cassa di Risparmio has been, and remains, an engine of territorial development.»
